The Retrieval Artist

Retrieval Artist Update #6

The Peyti Crisis eb#23DDB13The books are moving through the system. Vigilantes has come back from the content editor yesterday. I have a bit of work to do to rearrange that one, which is not a surprise. The Peyti Crisis just went to the copy editor. And I’m nearly done with Starbase Human, although that book is turning out much longer than expected. Two short stories related to Starbase Human will appear before the book–the first in Fiction River: Pulse Pounders, edited by Kevin J. Anderson and out in December, and the second in Asimov’s, out in the March, 2015, issue (most likely). I’ve been throwing off side stories as long as I’ve been writing the Retrieval Artist series. Some of those side stories have been incorporated into this saga, which surprises me. I guess I’ve been writing bits of this thing since 2007. My brain is really not linear. Both of those upcoming stories, though, I wrote in the last few months.

Fiction+River-+Pulse+PoundersWMG Publishing will ramp up their promotion and their specials for the fans in late August. (If you want to know what they’re doing, sign up for  their newsletter or my newsletter at the bottom of the home page.) Until then, you’ll have to be satisfied with my updates. :-) I’m also adding the marvelous cover that Allyson Longueira designed for The Peyti Crisis. She’s done a few more covers which I will dole out as the updates continue.

I’m getting there. I’m to the stage when I start lying to myself. That’s a good sign. It’s how I keep myself motivated to finish. (Only a short bit left, Kris. Just a little. Of course, in a project this big “a little” is at least 130,000 words. But I see the end….)
